FAQ

Q. How do I operate my irrigation system?

A. We program and activate your system initially for your particular conditions, sod or seed, drainage concerns and soil type and time of year in which your lawn was installed. If at any time thereafter you wish to modify the programming, simply refer to your operations manual or call for an appointment with our Irrigation Specialist

Q. How do I care for my irrigation system, do I have to have you
start it up or can I just turn it on myself?

A. It is required by the city in which you live to have your irrigation system Back Flow tested annually and the results of that test must then be filed with the city municipality. We do both on your behalf when you hire us to service your system. We also make a visual inspection at start-up to alert you of any problems which may have developed over the winter months. (you must sign up and pay for this service before we can start your system)

Q. How do I care for and water my sod?

A. Water! Water! Water! We can not emphasize that enough. Ideally your sod should be kept saturated for the first two weeks depending on your conditions and the time of year it was installed.

Q. Does my sod need fertilizer after it is installed?

A. The short answer is no. Initially the sod has not yet established an extensive enough root system to benefit from fertilization. In some cases fertilizing too soon can be detrimental to the new sod. Depending on your personal watering habits and time of year your lawn is installed, we recommend fertilizing after six weeks to ten weeks following the initial installation.

Q. How do I care for my hydro-seed?

A. It is important to keep your hydro-seed moist, watering in short intervals two to four times daily, depending on the time of year, less frequently in cooler temperatures and more frequently when temperatures are constantly above 70 degrees. The idea is to keep the seed moist, but not over watered. Too much water may actually wash away your seed. Evenly watered hydro-seed germinates more quickly with a more uniform cover of your yard, reducing the need to re-seed.

Q. When does my hydro-seed need fertilized?

A. Fertilizing your hydro-seed should occur no earlier than six weeks after installation. The best gauge to measure when to fertilize is typically around the same time your lawn is ready to be mowed for the first time.
